Rising to the occasion to score the side’s only goal to win the SWAG Cup trophy against reigning Ghanaian champions AshantiGold SC, Kotoko’s utility player Eric Donkor has been tipped by head coach David Duncan to work wonders in the upcoming season.
Donkor, 23, has worked his way through the Kotoko side to be the indispensable element of the side in almost every game.
As a defender who has so far scored three goals and made six assists in the side’s pre-season preparation, Donkor has been tipped to carry the Reds to the Promised Land.
It is not surprising then for the head coach of the side to describe him as an important element to the title winning ambitions of the Porcupine Family.
“He is a member of the squad expected to play an important part in our quest to reclaim lost status this season, Duncan wrote in a chat with GHANAsoccernet.com
Duncan added that he is a great player in the making as his tactical understanding is very sharp to get him to the level he wants to be.
Donkor who is becoming a free kick expert for the Reds fetched the side’s only goal in the SWAG Cup against AshGold from a free kick after taking five free kicks all of which were on target.
He also registered two goals against Serbian side FK Jagodina and assisted in two of the three goals scored in that game.
Donkor’s ingenuity will surely be employed when Asante Kotoko commence their title ambitions against WAFA in the upcoming season.
