Nii Ayi finally earned the bragging rights over his old foe Edward Afrifa after clinching a 5-4 victory in their big game at the Community 9 Draught Club last Saturday.
It was one of their rare encounters that ended without controversy, and Nii Ayi was in his vocal elements as sponsor of the clash, Ofosu Appiah Brothers, congratulated him on his victory.
It was a tough victory, and one he deserved to savour thoroughly, given that he fought from a 0-2 deficit and also trailed 1-3 and then 3-4 in what looked more likely to end in defeat for him.
But as he had often done in many other matches, he fought gamely to even the scores at 4-4 before snatching the ultimate victory in the eight hours that the match lasted.
Over the period, the two drew in six of the total 15 games, and the result only proved their status as the nation’s best players at the moment.
For now, Nii Ayi holds the bragging rights, but with enthusiasts, particularly supporters of Afrifa, aka Kick Away, pushing for a rematch, the last of their clashes may not have been seen yet.
