Do it for Otumfou - Kenpong charges Kotoko players

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko board member Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong) has told the players to give everything for victory in their crucial CAF Confederation Cup match against Zesco United.

The Porcupine Warriors need a win to grab a ticket to the quarterfinals stage of the competition following their 1-1 home draw game to Al Hilal.

The result of last week's game has placed Kotoko's stay in the competition under threat with a win in Zambia being they only option available to CK Akunnor and his charges.

Pundits have suggested the huge expectations and pressure will affect the team's mentally which may lead to poor display on Sunday.

But Kenpong who served as Vice Chairman of the club during the famous Herbert Mensah era has downplayed the suggestions, insisting that the players have the mental fortitude to cope and give Kotoko victory on Sunday.

Kenpong is convinced that with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu and the entire country backing them to end the game on the victorious side.

Kenpong who finds himself in a prestige class of Ghanaians who have been appointed by Otumfuo to manage the club is confident that Kotoko will stun Zambia with a win tomorrow.

He further urged the players to leave no stone unturned and give Otumfour and Asanteman a resounding victory.

"I'm quite confident about our chances of Kotoko. I believe with commitment and dedication the players will bring us a good result. I dont agree that the players will feel pressure, they are good players with a good coach so they can deal with the challenge. The wise one Otumfuo Osei Tutu is behind meaning the entire Asanteman is rooting for them so they have no reason to be afraid. They should just go there and player their heart out and I believe we'll win., Kenpong said in an interview.

Kenpong also commended current Kotoko CEO Kwame Kyei for the transformation he has brought to the club. He is confident that under Kwame Kyei, Kotoko will win domestic and continental trophies.

In 1999 Kenpong was selected to assist then chairman Herbert Mensah steer the affairs of the club.

He also served as a board member in the PV Obeng-led administration.
