Former Chelsea and AC Milan stalwart Marcel Desailly has revealed he turned down an offer from Swansea City to become their new manager.
The Swans are currently searching for replacement to Brendan Rodgers, who left the club to join Liverpool last month.
Wigan assistant manager Graeme Jones appeared to be leading the race to succeed Rodgers with Brighton's Gus Poyet, Blackpool's Ian Holloway and former Denmark international Michael Laudrup all reportedly sounded out by the club.
Laudrup now though appears to be the frontrunner for the job and is meeting with Swans' chairman Huw Jenkins in the coming week.
Desailly, who is trying to win his UEFA coaching badges, admits the offer from Swansea has come too soon as he looks for a career in management in the future once he feels fully qualified.
"I was approached, but it is not the right time," Desailly told Le 10 Sport.
"Everything seemed fine, but it was too early."
