Deputy Communication Minister to launch new sport station

Vincent Sowah Odotei, Deputy Minister of Communication will on Tuesday, December 18, launch a new satellite television station, OMY TV, in Accra.

The launch, would be held at the premises of the station, Racecourse, Kwashiebu, in Accra, at 11am.

It would commence the official operations of the station, that has sports its major focus.

OMY TV is expected to go live on Air in January, 2019, after three months of test transmission.

Madam Joyce Aku Mensah, Managing Director of OMY TV, told the GNA Sports that, her outfit has over the last three months, embarked on a test transmission and the response had been encouraging.

She said, they were now ready to begin live transmission from their studios in January and thrill viewers with exciting programmes.

According to Madam Mensah, the major focus for the station is sports, adding that, sports was the passion of the nation and it would give them the necessary attention and attraction.

Madam Mensah, urged all Ghanaians to switch to OMY TV for a new television experience.

The station, it would be recalled embarked on a float in September to announce their presence on the market.

The float, which was led by boxing sensation Braimah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, was patronised by staff, management and community members.

The station, which is under the management of Olive Joy Concepts, is a sports biased outfit with 70% of its contents dedicated to sports.

OMY TV, is expected to thrill viewers with fond memories of old football matches of the Black Stars and other national teams, some exciting World Cup, UEFA Champions League and Africa Cup of Nations matches, which would give viewers historical nostalgia.

In addition to football, viewers will be thrilled with some old boxing bouts and athletics championships.
