David Accam’s Chicago Fire saw their 11-match unbeaten run in MLS come to an end after losing 2-1 to New York City FC on Saturday afternoon at the Yankee Stadium.

Second half goals from David Villa and Frederic Brillant were ultimately enough for New York City FC to overcome Chicago Fire.

Villa’s one-time volleyed attempt was struck low and past a diving Lampson to give the hosts the lead in the 47th minute.

Moments later, City defender Frederic Brillant got his head on a free kick from Maxi Moralez to extend the City lead.

His point-blank connection was denied by Lampson initially, but a second effort pushed it over the line to make the score 2-0 in the 50th.

Ghanaian striker David Accam smashed home an attempt from distance off Johnson’s bar and down to make the score 2-1.

Accam has so far netted 11 goals this season for Chicago Fire.

The loss marked the Fire’s first since April 29, ending a span of 11 straight matches unbeaten in MLS.
