AshantiGold SC goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has revealed that he will extend his contract with the Ghana League Champions following the expiration of his existing deal.

Dauda, 30, returned to the Obuasi-based club after a rather difficult spell at South African sides Orlando Pirates and Chippa United last year.

The Black Star glovesman is now a free agent after his one-year deal with the miners expired in July this year.

Talks to extend his deal is yet to be concretized but the shot-stopper has revealed he will renew his contract with the newly-crowned Ghanaian champions.

“Yes I wil extend my contract with AshGold because they have respected me and have spoken to me to extend. They are the champions and I will surely extend,” Fatau told Happy FM in Accra.

“It is true that I have had contacts from other teams but I will have to stay at AshGold because we will be playing in the CAF Champions League this season.”

“That is what every player wants. I think it will be a bad decision to sign for a club that will not be playing in any international competition now. I will stay at AshGold,” he concluded.

Fatau Dauda’s exploit with the Aboakese lads earned him a call up into the Local Black Stars team A during the teams friendly with Canada and with the team B for the first leg of the CHAN qualifier with Cote d’Ivoire.
