BY: Dennis Narterh Adzigodi, Nungua.

The Warriors of Nungua, Danbort FC has eliminated BA stars from the on-going MTN FA cup competition. Two second half goals from the Nungua Warriors has secured a vital sweet 2-1 home victory for Danbort FC and has seen them progress to the Round 16 stage of the competition where they will face Accra based St. Mirren FC.

An early goal by the BA Stars in the first ten minutes of their game last Wednesday put the home side under pressure throughout the entire first half of the match. But two quick substitutions in the second half by the Danbort technical bench has changed the complexion of the game putting pressure on the BA stars resulting in a penalty when the BA defender clearly handled the ball in the eighteen yard box which was neatly converted by Daniel Awuni for the equalizer.
A beautiful header by leading striker Daniel Awuni in the dying minutes of the game through a beautiful cross from the right hand side of attack provided the killer punch to eliminate the Brong - Ahafo lads from this year’s FA cup campaign. The brace by Awuni in the last Wednesday s match takes his goal tally to four in their MTN FA cup campaign and also currently leading the division one goal king chart with eight goals.
In an interview, the head coach of Danbort FC, Jimmy Cobblah said their ambition of annexing this year’s FA cup is on course and the team will approach each match with all the seriousness it deserves and will remain focus and tactically disciplined throughout the entire competition. He said he is hopeful they will surely follow the footsteps of Nania FC to become the second division one side to annex the FA cup.
A technical member and head coach of the Danbort colts side, coach Evans Adjei has also called on all their supporters to support the team throughout their FA cup and the division one campaign. He was quick to condemn the attack on their supporters by the irate fans of Pure Joy FC during their division one league match at Prampram last Sunday and called on all supporters to desist from such acts. He was also hopeful Danbort Fc will annex this year’s FA cup and qualify to play in the Ghanaian premier league next season.
