Cycling: Samuel Anim wins Cowbell Tour

Samuel Anim’s name will forever be on the lips of cycling enthusiasts in Ghana after a historic victory against his competitors in the Cowbell Cycling Tour which ended at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Anim made history by becoming the first Ghanaian cyclist to lead his competitors by 12minutes in a competitive race.

The Tour which took place in three regions, namely the Northern Region, Ashanti and the Greater Accra region saw over 50 cyclists wrapping up their journey in the capital city.

Anim, who will represent Ghana in the upcoming African Championship in South Africa next year, took home Ghc3,000 after winning the yellow jersey and other products from sponsors Promasidor Ghana limited.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games rep for team Ghana, Anim, says winning the Tour is nothing new to him as he has his sights on the upcoming African Championship.

“Is been good for me, but to be truthful I was not aiming at this. I want the African Championship in South Africa. That is my aim even before we started this tour in the three regions.

I will have to put in much effort than what I have done in previous tours and am hoping that things will go on well as planned,” he added.
