For more than a decade, the world has watched Michael Schumacher from afar, wondering about the life of the seven-time Formula One world champion after his catastrophic skiing accident in 2013.
The crash in Méribel left him with a severe traumatic brain injury and in a medically-induced coma for nearly six months. Since then, his life has been largely private, shielded by his devoted family.
Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, has been at the center of his care, coordinating a 24/7 team of nurses and therapists who support him at their estates in Majorca and Lake Geneva.
Reports reveal he now sits in a wheelchair and can be moved around, a small but significant improvement after years of uncertainty.
Despite his limited ability to communicate, the presence of loved ones and trusted caregivers ensures he remains connected to family life.

For their children, the accident marked a turning point. Gina-Maria, 29, opened up in the documentary Horsepower – The World of Gina Schumacher, about how she coped with the trauma.
“After dad’s accident, I really threw myself into horses because I had to do something. The horses have always been important. I couldn’t do without them. They helped me get through everything,” she said.
Gina’s dedication to equestrian sport mirrors the determination her parents instilled in her.
Meanwhile, her brother Mick Schumacher has pursued a career in motorsport, carrying forward his father’s legacy while forging his own path.
Though details of Michael’s interaction with Mick are sparse, the family maintains a silent but unbreakable bond.
Through all these years, Corinna’s focus has been on protection and dignity.
By limiting media access and keeping Michael’s life private, she has created a safe space where he can live with comfort and care. The family’s devotion is a quiet kind of heroism, one measured not in trophies but in love, resilience, and unwavering commitment.
