Court winners wins first volleyball league match

Former Eastern Regional league champions, Court Winners from Donkorkrom thrashed league debutants, Power Hands Attackers from Obomeng by three sets to nil in the week two of the ongoing Akro-Ako Eastern Regional Volleyball league played at the Koforidua Jackson park volleyball court.

The youthful team from Donkorkrom dominated play in all three sets by winning 25 to 11, 25 to 19 and 25 to 19 in the first, second and third sets respectively.

Host team Unity Club based in Koforidua also thrashed Supreme Fingers from Nkawkaw by three sets to nil.

They won the first set by 25 to 14 and repeated the same points in the second set before rounding the third set by 25 to 20.

In the ladies division, Koforidua Unity ladies defeated Court Winners ladies from Donkorkrom by three sets to two.

The match, which was keenly contested saw Unity Ladies win the first set by 25 to 21, Court Winners ladies won the second set by 25 to 22 to draw level and went on to win the third set by 25 to 16 .

The ladies from Koforidua bounced back to win the fourth set by 25 to 21 to level up and went on to carry the day by winning the fifth set by 15 to 13.

The week three matches would be played on the 8th June at Asutuare, where A.S Spikers from Asutuare would play Bridge Spikers from Atimpoku.

Hydro Spikers from Akosombo would play Spartans Club from Odumasi, while Bridge Spikers ladies from Atimpoku takes on Spartan ladies in the only female match for the day.
