Commission of Inquiry hits back at the GFA

Nyantakyi declared GFA President again Nyantakyi declared GFA President again

The Commission of Inquiry into matters relating to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil has reacted to comments by some officials of the Ghana Football Association in relation to their report.

The President of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi and the communications director of the association Saani Daara have both passed comments that question the credibility of the report of the Commission of Inquiry

Moses Foh-Amoaning, a renowned law lecturer, who was a member of the 3-man Commission of Inquiry into Brazil 2014 has stated that their work a painstaking one and did all the necessary consultation before putting together their reports, so he is surprised at the comments of the GFA members that their shoddy work contributed to the Black Queens bonus disagreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“You (GFA) that sent the Black Queens to All Africa Games without communicating to the team the amount they had to receive and ended up lodging in hotel to demand for their bonuses, which again disgraced Ghana, you mean you did a good job?,” he told Atinka FM.

“The management committee members are paid for their job, but members of the Commission of Inquiry were not paid and at the end you tell us we didn’t do a good work.

“We (Ghana) owe the Black Queens $900,000, meanwhile only $ 10,000 will prepare the pitch at Prampram to help in sports development in the country. If we want to change the way things are done in the country some people think it is witch hunting.

“One thing is that if they want to appeal they can appeal, but no one should malign us. Some of their comments are unfortunate, but we want to listen to everything they have said on radio and respond appropriately”

He added that the GFA shouldn’t think that football in the country belongs to them.

“No one should think that football in this country belongs to him. When I hear some of the members of the GFA speak, it seems like football in this country belongs to them,” Foh-Amoaning added.

The Black Queens won their first ever major title in the just ended All Africa Games in Brazzaville, but there was a bonus row which compelled them to refuse leaving their hotel, until the President of Ghana intervened by settling them.
