Coach Pluym denies branding GFA ‘racist’

Accra , Nov 04, GNA - Coach Hans Van der Pluym, trainer of Berekum Chelsea has denied labeling Ghana Football Association (GFA) as ‘racist’ following the U-20 job snub last week.

Coach Pluym says the story that broke out on Tuesday was a complete misrepresentation of the facts on his position on the coaching snub by the GFA.

"At no point did I say or imply that the GFA and or its operatives were racist."

According to the coach he rather said ‘I had faith in Coach Orlando Wellington, being a coach I had worked with before."

"I also expressed the hope that I could have been considered for the role, considering that I have lived for longer than a decade in Ghana and married to a Ghanaian and settled permanently in Ghana, and felt Ghanaian."

"I have even initiated the process of going further than attaining my permanent residence permit and applied for full Ghanaian citizenship. At no point did I mention that I am no Ghanaian."

Coach Pluym said that he was highly saddened by the way of paraphrasing his words in the said interview with GNA Sports, as he has been misrepresented in a manner he will never conduct himself to.
