Chief Justice denies link with "Yellow card saga"

Acting Chief Justice E. K. Wiredu has denied any involvement in the Charles Taylor yellow card affair pending before the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Reacting to a publication in an Accra newspaper about Referee Essel’s testimony, Justice Wiredu expressed surprise about the use of his name by one Mohammed Haruna, a management member of Kotoko to threaten somebody.

The statement signed by Mr N. C. A. Agbevor, Deputy Judicial Secretary stated that the acting chief justice is “neither a supporter nor a patron of any club”. A copy of the statement was sent to the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA, stating categorically that, Justice Wiredu does not know Haruna who is said to be a top management member of Kotoko.
