Chess Association elects officers

Accra, July 23, GNA - The Ghana Chess Association (GCA) on Sunday, elected Mr Dominic Owusu Sekyere as its chairman to steer its affairs for a four-year term.

Other officers elected are Mr Edmund Thompson, Vice Chairman/Organising Secretary, Mr Kojo Hasford, Secretary, Mr E.K. Elete, General Secretary and Mr Peter Annan- Nsiah, Treasurer. Mr Owusu-Sekyere thanked the association for the confidence they had in him and asked for the co-operation of the members to enable him to work diligently.

The officers will be inducted into office on Saturday, August 5 when the Association will organise its major competition.

Meanwhile, Peter Annan-Nsiah and Kojo Hasford scored five points to win the association's First Open Championship played in Accra on Sunday. Francis Aquandah, who scored four points, placed third in the competition which was aimed at revamping the sport.
