Chelsea squeeze point from Liberty at Carl Reindorf

Berekum Chelsea managed to a squeeze a valuable away point from Liberty Professionals after holding them to a 0-0 stalemate at the Carl Reindorf Park in an outstanding Ghana Premier League tie.

The week 17 fixture which was rescheduled due to Chelsea’s continental engagement last month was honour at Dansoman – a suburb of Accra, with few fans on the attendance.

But it was a pulsating tie with both sides creating decent chances but were unable to record a goal in the entire regulation minutes.

Chelsea’s last visit to the venue brought a 5-1 humiliation and worked on the afternoon to ensure they emerged out of the tie with some dignity but it was goalkeeper Iddrisu Abubakar who kept them in the game as he pulled a last-gasp world class stop to deny Daniel Kodie.

Kennedy Ashia and Alfred Nelson had all tried efforts at goal but they missed their targets.

The draw has helped Chelsea increase their points build-up to 30 and stay ahead of Liberty as they defeated them in the reverse fixture in Berekum in 2013.
