Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku is set to tie the knot with his girlfriend after his marriage proposal was accepted.

The Istanbul Basaksehir defender took to Instagram on Thursday, May 30, 2024, to share images of his proposal with the caption, "It was always you."

The Fulham Academy graduate has kept his relationship relatively under the radar; hence, his girlfriend's name and nationality remain unknown.

Pictures shared on the player's Instagram page reveal that the couple has a son who recently turned one year old. The defender celebrated his son's birthday in a previous post.

Jerome Opoku has been called up to the Black Stars for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

This is his third call-up to the national team since his debut in 2023. He is poised to feature in his first competitive fixture as all three of his previous appearances were in friendlies.

The English-born Ghanaian is one of the few players yet to join the rest of the squad in Ghana following the squad announcement.

Ghana is scheduled to play Mali on Thursday, June 7, 2024, before hosting the Central African Republic on Monday, June 10, 2024.
