Chairman of Council of State, Ghana Gas CEO commission Juaben astro-turf

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company, Dr. Ben KD Asante, together with Juabenmanhene Nana Otuo Siriboe II, who also serves as the Chairman of the Council of State, has commissioned the Juaben AstroTurf.

Wembley Sports Complex constructed the FIFA-standardized size turf, which was commissioned on Thursday.

The event was well-attended by traditional leaders of Juaben, District Chief Executives (DCEs), political party leaders, and others.

The Omanhene of Juaben was impressed with the work done by Ghana Gas and the contractor.

According to the Omanhene, the sod-cutting ceremony was held on March 15, 2023, with a promise to construct a multipurpose Juaben AstroTurf.

Nana Otuo Siriboe II was pleased with the work and congratulated Ghana Gas for delivering on their promise to the people of Juaben.

"My people are very happy to see this dream materialize since we thought it would never happen."

"Even for Ghana Gas, sometimes it's difficult, but they managed to construct this turf, and they ought to be commended. Dr. Ben Asante was determined and instructed them to proceed with the work while awaiting board approval," he revealed.

He further told the gathering that they would ensure that work on the rest of the project is seen through for the benefit of the community.

The Omanhene thanked his people for their patience and trust and assured them that the project was undertaken for the youth to be able to develop their God-given talents.

"Our children, the young, and the youth are the reasons why this AstroTurf was constructed. We want to ensure that their God-given talents are developed. Someone could become a Maradona from Juaben. We could have the likes of Michael Essien, Didier Drogba, and others, so this turf will be a place of transformation to showcase your talents.

"I would be so grateful to see a world-class footballer who hits the limelight, and they will say he is from Juaben. In today's world, it is not only education that can propel you forward but also sports, spoken words, speeches, songs, and more."

Omanhene Otuo Siriboe II assured the youth that as long as he lives, he will pursue anything he can do to help them develop their God-given talents and urged the youth to move away from bad traits and certain acts that would be detrimental to society.

Dr. Ben KD Asante noted that Ghana Gas processes and transports gas for power generation and more.

However, he indicated that the company has other visions that include business, personnel, community development, and more.

The company, he emphasized, also contributes to healthcare, education, sports, water, and sanitation.

"Sports is the reason why we have gathered here today, which is an AstroTurf beautifully done by Wembley Sports Complex.

"Nana, I would plead that this sports facility, which has been constructed, is used not only for entertainment and physical well-being but also for communal well-being and cohesion."

The CEO believes that besides entertainment and physical exercise, the facility will bring everyone together to form communal cohesion.
