Central Region Basic Schools Sports Festival opens in Ajumako

Ajumako (C/R), Jan 17, GNA - The Central Region Inter-Districts Under 12 Zone One Sports Festival opened at the Ajumako Ghana Education Staff Development Institute (GESDI) sports grounds on Friday. Five Districts made up of Cape Coast, Mfantsiman, Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa and Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) are participating in the three-day festival.

Disciplines being competed for are soccer, athletics, table tennis, netball and volleyball.

In the opening football match, Cape Coast District made a bright start in the competition when they beat Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District 1-0.

After a goalless first half, Cape Coast District resumed the second half strongly and scored the match winner through their midfielder, Robert Mensah in the 75th minute.

In another match played on the same day, Mfantsiman also beat KEEA District by a lone goal.
