Contractors working on the Cape Coast Stadium have said the September completion deadline is within reach.
The Contractors, China Jiangxi for International Economic and Technical Corporation, who commenced work on the stadium in August 2013, says about 85 per cent of work was done.
Project Manager, Tan Wei Yi, has told the media that although they had gotten to a stage where they were supposed to be working on the outdoor facilities, such as asphalting of roads, roofing, and parking areas, they had not been able to continue with those works because of the rain and were instead working on some installations inside the stadium.
He stressed however that they would be able to complete the entire construction and hand over by September.
The $33 million USD project funded by a grant from the Chinese Government when completed would seat 15,000 people and include a natural grass football field, eight runway tracks, an outdoor handball court and among others.
He said to ensure that Ghanaians are able to maintain the facility after the one-year defect liability maintenance period, the Regional Sports Council had been told to delegate some technicians to be trained in the operation and maintenance of the installed equipment.
Tan said the design of the project included about 60 disability friendly seats, ramps for access into the stadium, disability friendly toilet facilities on the ground floor and one lift at the VIP section.
