CEPS hockey team emerged champions

Cape Coast, Sept. 8, GNA- The Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) hockey team from Accra, on Sunday, emerged champions in the finals of the 'Fetu Afahye' hockey tournament, with 'a walk-over' over Multi Sticks also from Accra.
The tournament, which was the ninth edition, took place at the University of Cape Coast sports grounds. In preceding matches, Multi Sticks beat Accra Golden Sticks 2-1 while CEPS also beat 'Western Readers 2-1 to qualify for the finals. Multi Sticks, however, failed to raise a team to meet CEPS, due to casualties it recorded in their earlier match and consequently the CEPS team, was therefore declared the winners.
Mr Haruna Issah, co-ordinator of the tournament, congratulated the teams for their sportsmanship and appealed to other hockey clubs in the country to participate in the competition when the festival is cerebrated next year. 6 Sept 03
