CEPS Push Golden Sticks out

... of the Championship Equation With 1-0 Win
CEPS men hockey club set up a titanic clash with rivals Exchequers slated for the morning of January 5 2008 to decide who will be crowned IPMC A-League champions when they beat Golden Sticks 1-0 in their outstanding league match. CEPS must win the final match to be crowned champions while Exchequers need only a draw to clinch their 14th title.

In the cagy encounter between CEPS and Golden Sticks on the morning of Boxing Day, it took the individual brilliance of national team captain Ebenezer Frimpong to break the deadlock in the 52nd minute. Frimpong received a pass on the centre line and dribbled past a host of Golden Sticks defenders to power home from the top of the circle leaving keeper Granvielle Adaletey stranded. Golden Sticks turned on the heat but were kept at bay by the defence of CEPS marshalled around Lawrence (Chaa) Nartey who will incidentally miss the titanic clash due to suspension. Exchequers will also miss the services of 2 key players, talisman Alfred (MC) Armah and defence stalwart Aziz Salami in the encounter which promises to be thriller.

Meanwhile, Golden Sticks play their final outstanding match against Reformers on Saturday December 22 ahead of the January 5 2008 round of matches. It is anticipated that the league trophies will be presented to the winners in a ceremony on January 5.
