Since the departure of Real Tamale United, the pride of the North, from the Ghana’s premier league years ago, the interest of football lovers in Tamale specifically have dropped drastically.

The likes of Wa All stars and Bolga stars also contributed in keeping the hopes alive for football fans within the three regions of the north but unfortunately, Bolga All Stars were relegated after playing just a season in the GPL.

Most of the poor performances of the Northern based football clubs are largely attributed to lack of financial support.

Several calls have been made for individuals and corporate organizations to support these clubs but to no avail.

Responding to a plea from a radio presenter in Wa, the CEO of North Television, Prince Siita Sofo Hassan has donated an undisclosed amount of cash to Maana Football Club based in Wa.

In addition to the cash donations, he also made airtime available on NTV to help promote the club and their league.

The managers of Maana Football Club received the donations on behalf of the club and pledged to make good use of it.

“Little by little we can grow each other” Mr. Siita stated and encouraged all and sundry to support worthy initiatives.
