The Confederation of African Football, CAF for the first time in Africa, tested the VAR refereeing system in the game between Morocco Vs Guinea at Casablanca Total CHAN2018.

The game which saw Morocco move within touching distance of a place at the quarter finals thanks to a 3-1 win over Guinea in Casablanca experienced the new technology.

After years of calls for video technology to be implemented into football in order to help referees, we saw its first major rollout on the continent following it's use at last year's Confederations Cup and is now being used in the Bundesliga and Serie A.

CAF who intend to improve officiating on the continent, successfully tested the technology and would hope to implement it in major tournaments.
