Former Ghana international and head coach of FC Ifeanyiubah, Yaw Preko, is confident his team will progress into the next round in the CAF Confederation Cup despite securing a slim 1-0 win against Al-Masry of Egypt in the first leg of their preliminary fixture on Sunday.
The Anambra Warriors wasted a number of goal-scoring opportunities in the game and relied on Tamen Medrano’s 88th minute strike to secure the win.
Ahead of the return leg billed for this weekend, Preko insisted that his team have a decent chance of scaling through the hurdle.
“My boys did well in the game and we could have scored more goals if not for our poor finishing,” Preko told the press
“For us, the battle is not over as we still have to face them in the second leg and I believe we have a good chance of making it to the next round.
“The most important thing is for us to believe in ourselves and work on our mistakes. It’s going to be tough but we can surely do it.”
The overall winner will take on Djoliba of Mali in the next round
