CAF Beach Soccer Qualifier: Ghana expected 3 hours to kick off

The mystery surrounding the arrival of Ghana Black Sharks to Uganda continues ahead of the CAF Beach qualifier against the Sand Cranes in Entebbe on Sunday.

The team is expected to arrive at Entebbe Airport on Sunday, just less than 3 hours to kick off of the first leg qualifier.

Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) chairman, Deo Mutabazi confirms to Kawowo Sports

"Ghana informed us they will reach Entebbe International Airport on Sunday, mid-day by Emirates Airlines.

Until Saturday evening, the Ghana Football Association had not officially communicated to their Ugandan counterparts about the fate of the beach soccer national team, The Black Sharks.

Perhaps, the Ghana Beach Soccer Association has been in constant contact with the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) who have been patiently waiting for the team.

No Pre-Match Meeting:

The expected pre-match meeting that was supposed to have taken place at the Imperial Resort Hotel in Entebbe on Saturday evening did not kick off.

The 5 match officials from Egypt; Abdel Naby Bakhit Khaled (Referee), El Eraky Hany Farouk (2nd Referee), El Sabagh Wael Mostafa (3rd Referee) and the time keeper, Shorbage Sameh El Shorbage all arrived on Saturday.

The match commissioner is Roch Henreitte from Seychelles.

The root of Ghana's haphazard preparations is believed to stem from Ghana Beach Soccer Association chairman, Richard Yow, a renown sports journalist with Super Sport, who has been in the limelight for a long time always agitating for the independence of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association from the country's Football Federation.

Uganda Sand Cranes, who had a week residential training in Entebbe look prepared ahead of the game.

We know the fixture date, venue and time. So we are mentally and physically ready for the game. Whether Ghana delays or what, we are prepared

Sand Cranes head coach, Harunah Kebba confidently sounded during the team's last training at Sports Beach on Saturday morning.

The winner over the two legs will qualify to the CAF Beach Soccer final championships in Seychelles.

The return leg is slated for 22nd March 2015 at La Beach Arena in Accra.
