Businessman donates sports items to Association

Nkawkaw, Aug. 1, GNA - The Managing Director of Broadwater Company Limited, a frozen fish and meat distribution company at Nkawkaw has presented two sets of jerseys and two footballs worth five million cedis to the Kwahu West District Basic School Sports Association Mr Jerry Oduro Palmer, the MD said his gesture is to assist and motivate the District's team to participate in this years' Eastern Region Inter Districts Sports Festival scheduled for Koforidua.

The District Assembly also donated 20 million cedis worth of sporting items to the association while the MP for Nkawkaw, Okerchiri Kwabena Adusah supported the Association with ten students foam mattresses worth 1.4 million cedis.

The donation followed an appeal made by the Association to organisations and individuals for financial and logistic assistance for the newly created District to adequately participate in the Regional festival.

Mr Palmer said he will continue to contribute towards education and sports especially in the District to enable children in the area to develop their talents in the various sports disciplines as a way of enhancing sports development in the country.

He advised the athletes to train hard to win more laurels for the District.

The District Director of Education, Mr Seth Koranteng who received the items thanked the donors for their assistance, adding that it would go a long way in improving the performance of the athletes and footballers at the Festival.
