Brong-Ahafo Inter- Zonal School Sports Festival under way

Sunyani, (B/A) March 09, GNA - Twene Amanfo Senior Secondary/Technical School (TASTECH) on Tuesday beat Techiman Senior Secondary School (TESS) 2-1 in a penalty shoot out to win the football match at the on-going Brong-Ahafo Senior Secondary Schools Super Inter-Zonal Sports Festival at the Coronation Park in Sunyani. The match between the two sides was so tension-packed that it saw several hold-ups that compelled the referee to flash out the yellow card several times to check rough play by the players. Cheered on by their 91home' supporters with song from their school band, the over-confident TASTECH boys attacked in droves and forced the defence of TESS to work overtime to contain the onslaught. The TESS goalkeeper, Ebenezer Asante ensured good defensive work by saving point-blank shots to the admiration of sporting public as managed to stay focussed and created several scoring chances but the TASTECH goalkeeper Richard Aboagye also exhibited perfect skills to thwart all their efforts.

At the end of the referee's 60 minutes of the match, when the penalty kicks was applied, Baffour Awuah and Mawuli scored for TASTECH while Unashak got one goal for TESS to enable the TASTEC team to carry the day.

In the Boys' handball competition played at the Sunyani Senior High School Park on Monday, Jema Senior High lost 8-12 to Dormaa Senior High, Kwame Danso Senior High beat Drobo Senior High 8-4, TESS whipped Mim Senior High 14-3, SUSEC walloped Buoyem Senior High 11-2, Hwidiem SHS defeated Berekum Presbyterian Senior High 10-7 while Abesim St. James Seminary and Senior High trounced Berekum Senior High 12-3.

In the girls division, Atebubu Senior High succumbed 2-4 to Berekum Senior High, Sunyani Senior High won 18-14 against Kintampo Senior High, Prang Senior High were panked 1-9 by Techiman Ameyaw-Akumfi Senior High, Wenchi Senior High defeated Drobo Senior High 4-2, Dormaa Senior High beat Yamfo Anglican Senior High 3-0 and Hwidiem Senior High defeated TASTECH 11-8.

Other results handball matches (boys) played on Tuesday were, Kintampo Senior High suffered a humiliating 3-6 defeat to Atebubu Senior High, Bomaa Senior High beat Berekum Senior High 5-4 on penalties after both teams had played 3-3 at the end of the full time, Hwidiem Senior High lost 7-9 to Jema Senior High, St. James SHS defeated Kwame Danso SHS 10-4, Kintampo Senior High and Mim Senior High played a 5-5 drawn game, but the latter scored 9-8 in the subsequent penalty shoot out, while Buoyem SHS also won 6-5 over Bomaa SHS.

In the girls division, Kukuom Agricultural Senior High lost 5-6 to Mansen SHS, TESS fell heavily by 3-11 to Duayaw-Nkwanta Serwaa-Kese Girls' Senior High, Wenchi Senior High won 6-5 over Atebubu Senior High, Sunyani Senior High beat Hwidiem Senior High 14-8, Kukuom Agric. SHS spanked Prang 11-0 while TESS lost 5-7 to Drobo Senior High.
