Boye misses out on Coupe de France trophy

Ghana defender John Boye’s dreams of silverware crashed on Saturday night after Guingamp defeated his Stade Rennes side 2-0 in the final of the Coupe de France to lift the trophy.

The 27-year-old watched the entire duration of the game from the bench at the Stade de France as Guingamp outplayed and outscored them to win gong and qualify for next season’s Uefa Europa League.

A goal in each half, scored by Jonathan Martins-Pereira and Mustapha Yatabaré helped to repeat their 2009 victory over the Red and Blacks.

Boye was hoping to finish the season with a trophy, which could have guaranteed them of a place in next season’s Europa League but the night ended miserably with a defeat.

The center-back’s no show on the night also adds to his inconsistencies this season for Philipe Montanier’s side this season as he has played just 8 first team games.
