Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng has been handed a late call-up to the Black Stars squad to face Nigeria in the wake of injuries in the squad," MTNFootball can exclusively reveal.
The Ukraine-based midfielder has been called up to replace Kwadwo Asamoah who is struggling with a knee injury.
The Dnipro player will have to convince coach Juande Ramos to release him for the match as his invitation came in late.
"I have received a call from the Ghana FA that I should report to camp. I am ready to go immediately but I am waiting for my club to give me the go-ahead," Boateng told MTNFootball.com.
According to FIFA rules clubs must be informed one week before players are invited to play in friendly matches.
Boateng is desperate to join the Black Stars but he must count on the magnanimity of Dnipro coach to release him for the game.
With Daniel Opare out of the game and Kwadwo Asamoah also struggling with injury, Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has been stretched thin.
