"Black Stars will sparkle against Canada"

Stand-in Ghana captain Emmanuel Agyemang Badu says the team will still sparkle against Canada in Tuesday’s friendly despite missing key players.

The Black Stars will be without the services of injured quartet Mohammed Rabiu, Christian Atsu, Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan.

Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, Ebenezer Assifuah and Chelsea’s Baba Rahman could not secure visas to the United States.

Head coach Avram Grant has named a 19-man squad which includes four debutants to face the Canucks.

His captain for the night will be in-form Badu and the Udinese midfielder the weakened side can still meet expectations to test the Canadians who are preparing for their 2018 World Cup qualifier.

“Because of visa problems and injuries we lost our captain Asamoah Gyan who is not coming. Dede Ayew is not coming but we have equally good players who are in camp and we are training so hard. We came three days ago and there are no injuries in camp,” Badu said this at the press-match conference.

“We want to do something for the nation and for the great people in America so we are poised for action on Tuesday. We want to beat Canada to make everybody proud and take that form into our World Cup qualifiers.”
