Ghana players have accepted a 20% reduction in winning bonus as each player will now be paid US$ 8,000 dollars, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The new payment structure will take effects from this month’s double 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique.

This was after a meeting between the players and news Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

Captain Asamoah Gyan, deputy skipper Andre Ayew who is out injured, joined the meeting via a phone call in the latest successful negotiation.

This followed an initial meeting where the players agreed with the minister to be paid in Ghana Cedis all in an aim to adjust to the difficult economic conditions in the country.

Remuneration for the Black Stars players came under scrutiny after the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil where players demanded being paid their appearance fees before their final Group match against Portugal.

Past ministers adopted a take-it-or-leave-it approach and that did yield any dividends.

Ghana beat Mozambique 1-0 last Thursday in their third Group H qualifier and will play the reverse fixture this Sunday in Maputo.
