The Black Queens players and their team officials are currently trapped in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the country closed its airspace and cancelled all flights due to the Israel-Iran conflict that erupted Saturday, February 28, 2026.

According to a report filed by Joy Sports, the players who have been confined to their rooms have been instructed by team officials to pack their luggage in preparation for a possible evacuation.

The Black Queens are currently in Dubai for the Pink Ladies' Cup, a four-nation tournament put together as part of the international women's football calendar.

Parts of Dubai, the camping base of the Black Queens, reportedly came under Iranian missile attacks targeting US military bases, with some hotels and sections of the airport said to have been impacted.

“We have all finished packing and are awaiting further communication from the officials.”

“The irony is that while we are packed and ready to leave, more people are trooping into the hotel. The lobby is crowded,” some of the players said as reported by Joy Sports.

The Ghanaian contingent comprises 25 players and 16 officials, who are lodged at Four Points by Sheraton, located in Sharjah, a port city just outside Dubai.

The team played its first game against Hong Kong on Saturday, which they won 4-0. Their next game is against Russia on Tuesday, March 3, before facing Tanzania on Friday, March 6, 2026.
