Black Queens poised for victory over Egypt

Ghana’s Black Queens are poised to keep their Olympic dream alive when they host Egypt in the second leg tie to be played at the Accra Stadium on Sunday May 31.

The national senior female team were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Olympic games qualifiers in Cairo.

Ghana got the opener from a corner kick, just 14 minutes after kickoff before Egypt’s striker Engy Ahmed converted a penalty kick into the net, to level the game in the second half.

Despite several attempts by the Black Queens to grab a win, the game ended 1-1 draw between the two sides.

And ahead of the second leg tie on Sunday, Coach Yusif Bassigi’s side are hopeful that they can secure a win at home when they take on their Egyptian counterparts to guarantee a place in the next round of the qualifiers.

The winner on aggregate after the second leg will advance to the final round of the qualifiers to face either Cameroon or Guinea.

The winner of this match will qualify directly to the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.
