Black Queens Arrive, Rehearse Celebration

A contingent of 18players and 7 officials of the senior National Women’s Soccer team the Black Queens have arrived in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea ahead of the 7th African Women’s Championship which kicks off on Saturday.

The Queens on touching down were thrilled with the massive support and welcome from the Ghana High Commission and Ghana Supporters Union from the Ghanaian Community. Uniformly dressed in Puma apparel like a team, the Queens were received by the deputy sports capo of Equatorial Guinea on behalf of his government and assured them of an interesting and successful tournament.

After going through with accreditation process, the team quickly moved for the first training session where they were cheered on by Ghanaian fans. Coaches Mumuni Gamel and Ben Forkuo made them go through light training shaking off fatigue after 3hours of travelling.

Skipper Adjoa Bayor who has already played in all 6 championsips, revealed that they never anticipated to see the number of Ghanaians around and that alone is a morale booster and it makes them feel at home. “We are challenged to make an announcement on Women Football in Ghana by annexing the AWC Trophy for the first time. The end to the Nigerian dominance is now”. Bayor said in an interview.

Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia who are all in Group B with Ghana have all flown in and will play their matches in Bata. Black Queens knowing the stuff the have for Africa are seriously rehearsing celebration style ahead of victories. Squad.
