Ghana’s U-17 women’s team the Black Maidens held their final training session on Sunday in time for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup opener against hosts Uruguay.
All 23 players trained at the Estadio Charrua in Montevideo.
The Maidens will play the hosts on Tuesday at 2200 GMT in what will be preceded by the opening ceremony.
“The coach has spent a long time preparing us for this first match and for the atmosphere we can expect there,” said Maidens’ captain Mukarama Abdulai in an interview with FIFA.com.
“We have to be totally focused so that we don’t get knocked off our stride by the home fans cheering for their team.”
The match will, however, be the fourth on the day.
The two are in Group A and will later play New Zealand and Finland in that group.
They have met once in the tournament. The Maidens beat the South Americans 5-0 in their run-up to Bronze in 2012 in Azerbaijan.
