Ghana international Afriyie Acquah will not be signed by English Championship side Birmingham City after the Blues agreed personal terms with Eddie Ogenyi Onazi as well as his club Trabzonspor.

Birmingham reportedly made an €8 million bid to lure Acquah to St. Andrews Park from Turin but they have now shifted their attention to the Nigerian holding midfielder and will land him for a cheaper fee.

In addition, Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp has already added Senegalese Cheikh N’Doye to his midfield ranks this summer, meaning Acquah’s deal is off.

Onazi, 24, played over 70 Serie A games for Lazio before joining Turkish side Trabzonspor during the summer of 2016 where he made 28 appearances scoring two goals.

The Super Eagles defensive midfielder is expected to fly to England on Wednesday for his medicals.
