'Big sigh of relief for Kotoko to win points back'

Michael Osei, who is currently in Germany for a coaching course has expressed his delight to see the Porcupine warriors win back their points lost to Accra Hearts of Oak over the ineligibility of Obed Owusu.

The Disciplinary Committee docked Asante Kotoko 6 points as punishment for using Obed Owusu, whom it declared unqualified for their match day 25 victory over Hearts of Oak in Accra, after a protest by the latter.

However, the Appeals Committee on Tuesday overturned the ruling of the DC and restored Kotoko their 6 points, while Hearts of Oak were denied the 3 points won in that process.

Michael Osei, who is the assistant coach to David Duncan has indicated that it would have been a double loss if Kotoko had not got their points back.

“I knew we will one day get our points back, because we didn’t do anything wrong by using Obed Owusu. We knew what we were doing that is why allowed him to serve the ban with the Elite Cup," he told Kasapa FM.

“The way and manner things went for Kotoko last season, whereby we ended the season without a trophy, if we had not won our points back, it would have been a big blow to us.

“I am happy to finish 2nd because that shows at least we weren’t bad during the season.

The Porcupine warriors initially placed 6 on the league ladder, but the point won has propelled them to a 2 place finish.
