Biennial armed forces inter-services shooting competition opens

The 2013 Biennial Armed Forces
Inter-Services shooting competition, codenamed Exercise FIREBLAST has began at
the Yawhima Gallery Range in Sunyani. Contingents from the Ghana Army, Ghana
Navy and the Ghana Air force are taking part in the three day exercise. In his
opening remarks the Acting General Officer Commanding-Northern Command, Colonel
Joseph .A. Boampong said the training is meant to enable them to master the art
of shooting with the desired efficiency. Colonel Boampong urged the
participants to interact among themselves in order to foster cooperation and
friendship among themselves. He reminded them that the purpose of the
competition is to encourage them to attain the highest professional standards.
He said their participation in the exercise will also make them ever ready to
defend the nation. Colonel Boampong urged officials and competitors to
establish the highest sense of dedication and integrity as they go about the
competition. He stated that the morale displayed by competitors assembled gives
him the impression that they were ready and willing to chart the course of
victory. Some civilians including media men took part in the close range
shooting.
