Betom steal K'dua Tigo Community Soccer title

The Tigo Community Soccer fiesta recorded its best show yet this weekend in Koforidua when it stopped over in the Eastern regional capital.

A sharp contrast to the first edition two years ago, hundreds of fans poured out onto the Methodist Park for the two day event.

The fans were treated to some of the best grassroots football in the country by the 16 teams representing as many communities in the competition. For the second time this season, the host team won the title. Betom hung onto a lone goal to beat Korley-Nkwanta in the final match to steal victory.

They won for themselves the Championship trophy, gold medals, Tigo souvenirs and a cash price of GH¢500. Their victory qualifies them for the national championship to be held later this year. The first runners took home silver medals, Tigo souvenirs and a cash price of GH¢300. Asuoyaa came in second runners up and took home Tigo souvenirs and GH¢200.

Frederic Odoi from Betom won the best player of the competition award and was awarded a brand new Samsung smart phone.

Tigo Community Soccer moves to Cape Coast in the Central Region this weekend.
