Besiktas to keep Boateng if he takes a pay cut

Turkish giants Besiktas would be happy to extend the contract of Kevin-Prince Boateng if he takes a pay cut, footballghana.com can exclusively report.

The Ghanaian forward penned a six month loan deal with the Black and Whites in January 2020. In his contract, it was stipulated that he had to play at least 45 minutes in a 90 minute match for at least 10 games to trigger an automatic extension.

The 33 year old would have earned 1.7 million euros if he met the requirements. However, he has played six games for the club so far and have only played 45 minutes or more in five of them.

Footballghana.com understands that the club does not want the extension to be triggered as the money will be too high and they are facing financial problems due to COVID-19. They would rather want to pay him less. The management of Besiktas have communicated the information to the player and await his final decision.

The former Barcelona star has scored two goals in his six appearances for the Turkish giants this season.
