Medeama lost 1-0 at Berekum Chelsea in an outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture on Wednesday to drop just above the relegation trap net.

Nicholas Opoku fetched the only goal of the match as early as the 7th minute as Medeama's domestic troubles continued.

Medeama were hoping to return to winning ways after crushing out of the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.

But the two-time FA Cup champions failed to recover from Opoku's early goal to condemn to their latest defeat in the top-flight.

The Tarkwa-based side traveled to the Golden City Park without their head coach Tom Strand, whose future has become a matter of intense conjecture in the local media.

The Swedish trainer is reported to be at loggerheads with his club after GHANAsoccernet.com revealed Kotoko officials had held 'secret talks' with him over the move.

Medeama will next host Bechem United on Sunday before traveling to Sudan to tackle Al Shendi in the first leg tie of the CAF Confederation Cup on April 10.
