Amid the ongoing debate surrounding the Ghana national football team squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has shared his views.

Speaking in an interview on Ekosiisen on Asempa FM, shared on social media on March 11, 2026, Shatta Wale stated that Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare deserves to be included in the squad for the tournament.

According to him, the goalkeeper has performed exceptionally well and merits a place in the team.

“He has done very well. They have to take him. Right now, no one is talking about the players in the Black Stars apart from the goalkeeper.

“Sometimes we downplay certain things, but I think we should advocate for him so that he is taken to the World Cup,” he said.

Shatta Wale also offered advice to upcoming musicians and young footballers.

According to him, they should remain focused, pray, and cultivate the habit of saving because life presents many challenges.

“They should just focus, pray, and learn how to save. Saving has really helped me. I’m not the party or club type, so when I get money, I save. They should just be serious about what they are doing. In Ghana, national heroes are not recognised.

“I am equally suffering, and no one is defending my work. I am always trying to defend myself. But I think we have to support one another. My advice to footballers and upcoming musicians is that if you have the opportunity, keep saving, stay focused, and pray because I believe God is the only commander in this boat,” he added.
