Benghazi To Host Second Artificial River Football Tournament

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - National football teams from Cameroon, Gabon, Ghana (Olympic Team), Togo and Libya are to take part in the second edition of the Great Artificial River football tournament kicking off Thursday in Benghazi.

Teams qualified for the African Cup of Nations, scheduled for 22 January to 13 February in Ghana and Nigeria, are expected to use the competition to measure their strength. Only Libya is not participating in the African Cup of Nations.

The president of the Confederation of African Football, Issa Hayatou, will witness the tournament's opening matches involving Cameroon-Ghana and then Gabon-Libya.

Former Argentine national team captain Diego Maradona is also expected in Benghazi to witness the tournament.

On Saturday, Togo plays Ghana while Gabon meets Cameroon. Monday's matches will involve Togo-Gabon and Libya-Cameroon. On Tuesday, Ghana plays Gabon while Libya locks horns with Cameroon, and on Friday Cameroon meets Togo and Libya clashes against Ghana.
