Lions hold Hearts in a friendly encounter

Accra, April 13, GNA - Defending league champions, Accra Hearts of Oak played out a one all drawn game with visiting Kpando Heart of Lions in a friendly encounter at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra on Sunday. The clash afforded the two teams the opportunity to fine-tune their preparations and rate the capabilities of their players towards the second round of the Onetouch Premier League.

Hearts started the game with an entirely old squad much to the surprise of their fans, many of whom had anticipated the presence of some of the new signings, took the lead in the 16th minute through Samuel Affum who delivered a thunderbolt of a shot from the goal area of lions after he was put through by Eric Gawu.

The Phobians continued to hold the upper hand in the game even though enterprising winger George Yamoah masterminded Lions onslaught on a few occasions. Both teams effected some changes to beef up their squad in the second half, but it was Lions who had the last laugh when Godfred

Rockson headed home the equalizer from a goal mouth scramble in the 51st minute. The goal came after Hearts goalie, Laud Quartey was given the marching off orders for intentionally handling the ball outside the penalty area. After the deadlock, the game from then became a dingdong battle till referee Jonathan Tetteh brought proceedings to an end.
