Ben Mensah tips young defender Robert Addo for key first team role

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah has tipped youngster Robert Sowah Addo to be a key player for the team next season.

The young defender played only four games last season for Hearts, winning the club’s Fero Mobile Man-of-the-Match award in the 1-0 MTN FA CUP win over Danbort.

But after playing a bit part role in the 2016/17 season, Ben Mensah believes next season would be Addo’s breakthrough year.

“I am confident we will see the best of Robert Addo next season,” the Hearts No.1 told accraheartsofoksc.com.

“He played a couple of games but you could see he is not far off from the level of the regulars. Robert had been with the team in almost all of our matches and though he sat on the bench most of the time, I think he has studied and picked up a few things along the way.

“He has enjoyed the view more than all of us because you have what you intend to do in a situation whilst you also have the chance of watching those who are playing show what they would also do. In the end, you can say, ‘oh, yeah, my intent was right or I have picked up something from player A or B’. And I believe this learning experience will serve him well going into next season.

“If he is able to combine what he has picked up from last season, I am more than sure he would be a key player for us in the whole of the season not just a few games.”

Team Hearts will begin preseason on the 4th December 2017.
