Bellarabi scores again for Leverkusen in win over Berlin

German-born would-be Ghanaian attacker Karim Bellarabi highlighted his magnificent scoring run for Bayer Leverkusen by scoring the fourth goal in their 4-2 triumph over Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old wrapped up the victory for Leverkusen at the BayArena with a brilliant finish in the 86th minute.

Leverkusen started the game on a bad note with young Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj scoring an own-goal in the 24th minute to gift the home side the lead but redeemed himself by scoring the the equaliser five minutes into the second-half.

But Hertha took the lead again before Leverkusen levelled through Emir Spahi and Julian Brandt. Brandt’s goal was a by-product of Bellarabi’s effort. The former West Bromwich Albion target had broken free on the right and aimed a shot at goal. But his effort came off the post and Brandt ghosted in on time to finish off from 8 yards.

While Leverkusen were busily working to protect their lead before the final whistle, Bellarabi cooled the pressure off by scoring in the 86th minute.

Winger Calhanoglu outpaced his marker to release a fine cross for Bellarabi and the attacker timed his movement well to blast home a thunderous strike from close range to cement the win for his side.

Bellarabi has hit a rich vein of form as he has scored three goals in his last four games for Leverkusen and, last week, scored the fastest goal in the German Bundesliga’s history.
