President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantekyi has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the senior national team, the Black Stars and offer the players and technical men the much need support to be able to shine at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Speaking to yours truly at the headquarters of the GFA after the coach Dr. Kwesi Appiah has released hid 26 man provisional list, he noted that if Ghanaians want their team to reach far far in the World Cup, then they should support the team.
According to Nyantekyi, Ghana has good players who came do their best to send the nation to the semi final or the final.
He said the coach can not call all Ghanaian players so he had chosen the relevant ones who are performing at the highest levels and hoped that they would give a very good account of themselves.
The GFA President used the occasion of naming the Ghana World Cup list to announce the travel arrangements, programme and matches that the Stars will play before landing in Maceio in Brazil where they will camp for the World Cup.
Kwesi Nyantekyi said the team will start residential camping in Accra from May 20 to May 23 and depart for Holland on May 24 to play the Dutch in an international friendly.
He hinted that the Black Stars will be hosted by the President John Mahama and play a farewell game before departing.
After the Holland game, they will fly to the USA and play South Korea in Miami on June 9, then have a media encounter before moving to Brazil.
He noted that the Stars will play their first match on June 16 against the USA in Natal, before facing Germany and Portugal.
The GFA President said the players who have been selected are good, fit and committed and believes they came rise to the games and bring honours to the nation and Africa.
