The Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) has announced that their annual congress will come off in the first week of June.

The decision was reached on Saturday after over two hours of a crunch meeting at the Laboma Beach Resort.

The meeting had in attendance GBSA President Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Vice President Fred Afful, executives of the federation and representatives of the various beach soccer clubs.

Among the issues that were deliberated upon; the urgent need for a refresher training course for referees, mode of player registration, fixtures and venues schedule for the upcoming league and new sponsors and partners.

The President of the association, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah reiterated his stance not to vie for a third term.

Instead, he explained that he will work closely with the newly formed West Africa Beach Soccer Union (WABSU) to push for more support that would benefit the growth and development of the game in the country.

Vice President Fred Afful said the delay in the start of the new season is down to several factors including the new format to be adopted for the league and the hunt for additional sponsors.

"Currently we have a CSR package with CAL Bank of 44,000 cedis. Grateful as we are, this cannot run a competitive league for more than a week. So we are looking for new partners to compliment the great efforts of CAL Bank since 2011".

The date for the commencement of the 2017 league season and a new broadcast partner will be announced in due course
