A former Ghanaian international is advising the Ghana Football Association to be brave enough to sack Avram Grant if they feel he is not performing.
According to him, former Coach Kwesi Appiah was relieved of his duties at a time he had almost qualified Ghana for the Equatorial Guinea 2015 Nations Cup and does not see why the nation’s football governing body should fail to sack the former Chelsea boss if indeed they are not satisfied with his performance.
Speaking to Abusua Sports Arena hosted by Kofi Larbi, Johnson said the FA should delete assertions that no Ghanaian coach currently qualifies to lead the Black Stars team since he believes there are well qualified and competent coaches locally who can manage the Black Stars team.
He adds with a better salary and massive support from Ghanaians, any local coach appointed to manage the Black Stars team can succeed.
[It is never true that we, as at now, do not have any better coach locally to manage the Black Stars team, I think we should start grooming our own to handle our team. There are coaches like Kwesi Appiah, David Duncan and the likes who can manage the team when offered the opportunity].
He added "For me, I think Grant has not performed creditably well as expected of him and I see no wrong with the FA sacking him if they are not impressed with his recent performance,’’ Sam Johnson stated.
Commenting on Wednesday’s AFCON 2017 draw held in Libreville, whether Ghana can qualify from the group stage, he mentioned that though he has no hope in Grant, he believes the playing body will work assiduously to shock their group opponents with the work of Avram Grant.
"I don’t trust Avram, but I know the players will play their hearts out and sacrifice themselves for the nation and give us qualification from the difficult group.
